[RBW] Re: Way OT: Is there an Eye Doctor in the House?

2015-03-13 Thread Deacon Patrick
The simple answer, Bobby, is yes. The world has been blurry for 4 years, as
I experienced the world better without glasses because of a huge number of
factors. These lenses appear to make it possible to both see clearly and
not interfere with brain function. It's a new type of lens, and allows for
natural eye movement, peripheral vision, and minimal light refraction. An
amazing blessing so far. I rode for four hours this morning and it was
wonderful seeing the world clearly, including the pits and ruts and
washboard to avoid!

2015-03-13 Thread Deacon Patrick
I hear you, George! Probably not, but then I shouldn't be doing anything I
do with vertigo either. Grin. I have several advantages over your car ride
on Pikes Peak. My vertigo is constant, as in my mind never has an idea
where I am in space, so there aren't any surprises from it, the only issue
is how well can I cut through it? That's where proprioception comes in.
The only way I can run or ride a bike is by going barefoot or in minimalist
shoes. The feedback from my feet tells by body where I am in space though
by brain hasn't a clue. We all have this capacity, but most of us go around
with blinders on our feet. Grin. God's engineering really is amazing!

Hopefully my next Pikes Peak attempt will reach above tree line. I wimped
out at Glen Cove my first go.

Sorry for the update on an off topic post, but wanted to easily update all the
wonderful, thoughtful folks who wrote me off group (and thank you!). I saw a
behavioral optometrist. The prescribed regular and reading glasses using new
lenses by Hoya and the difference is stunning. I picked up my new two pair of
glasses today. It is pretty bloody weird being able to see, track things with
my eyes rather than just my head, and not have my head hurt. So far I am
stunned by how well this is going. I've already adjusted to them and see far
better with more comfort and less strain than ever since 2002 and my 8th
concussion.

Thank you all for you help getting here! Have I mentioned lately I love this

Re: [RBW] Re: Way OT: Is there an Eye Doctor in the House?

2015-03-12 Thread René Sterental
Si. I mean See. What sort of Hoya lenses are these? I wear multifocal
lenses and have realized that the brand and make makes a huge difference.
My latest two pairs have been digital (can't recall the manufacturer) and
they are significantly better than what I had to endure for a couple of
years after the original brand I started using was discontinued by the
manufacturer.

Granted, the biggest issue is that you have to pretty much take what your
optometrist decides to use, as there is no way to try all the options.

So happy you can see better now!
