You might need a White Eccentric ENO hub.
I ride 40x15 by preference on the Quickbeam, with a dingle cog for 40x21 or
32x21 when I have a second ring.

Ain't climbing on a singlespeed (or close thereto) fun? It's one of my
favorite parts of cycling (short hills, be it understood). And you adapt so
amazingly to using a single gear on vastly different terrains.

Climbing in a 60 gear (40/18X27) is a great experience.

Follow up: Today was my first significant ride on the new Quickbeam.
About 25 miles. Bit of climbing, long, mild descent, some flatish
singletrack. My favorite Saturday morning loop in other words!

And I must say, the Quickbeam performed FLAWLESSLY. Up the hills
kinda' slowly in 40X18, standing now and then. Followed by coasting
down the steeper portions where I was out of gear, and moving to 40X16
on the White Dos freewheel to spin up on the rolling downhill part.
Then back to 40X18 for the singletrack and roads home. All this before
 9:00!

Riding this fantastic bike makes me wonder why I have gears on the other

It's always been one of those itches you just can't scratch... finally
satiated!

I think I still need some sort of dirt-bomb type bike, then, just
maybe, I will have all the bikes I need. Although a folder would be
cool. Maybe double squish 29er. Maybe a full on drop-bar 29er as well.
Still want a Wilbury/Glorius come to think of it...

Congrats, and I hope you enjoy it like crazy. My AHH and my QB are quite
 satisfying.

(But I'd still like to have a knobby-shod Hunq.)

I wasn't planning on getting a new bike, but sometimes these things
just can't be avoided! When a 60cm Quickbeam recently was offered for
sale here by Collin, I pretty much had to make it work out! And
everything came together in an amazing fashion! I took a day or so
dithering about it, but was able to still buy it. For transportation
from Walnut Creek to Redlands, I was able to press Jim W into service.
He was coming back down south after spending several weeks in the Bay
Area and was happy to help a guy out! The good people at Rivendell
even lent some storage space to the cause and let Collin drop it off
there until Jim could get by to pick it up. A lot of good people
helped make this happen, and I'm ecstatic to have a new bike!

 And the first (short) ride!
