Does anyone have any contact info for a former Photocom rep?
I've got a client with one that's acting up.

Hi All,
I've got a call about lithium batteries for the battery powered polaris EV
ranger.
I've looked but can't find any.
Anybody know of a supplier for this?
Sorry in advance if this is supposed to go to marketing.

I am biased to SEI. Full disclosure I do teach for them. Great instructors
and a solid curriculum. Options for online, in person and hands on. Great
thing about SEI is most instructors are part time teachers working full
time in the industry, so students get a good industry perspective.
This is a real long shot, Jeremy, but Chris Pinelli was manager of
Photocomm in Denver, before Photocomm became Golden Genesis (Coors
Beer family) and then Kyocera. I googled his name, and as of 2008 he
still worked for Kyocera. So try Email:chris.pine...@kyocera.com
Hi,
We are hiring a new person to begin to take on generating our residential
installation packets for the field crews. We looked for someone with
experience, but have had to go with someone with lots of PV field project
management experience, reasonably good computer program skills, but not a
Hi folks,I'm a little confused. Is the heat pump water heater used w radiant
floor heating to also heat the house?
If so, 4338W/240v=18A. Pretty good for dhw and house heating.
If we convert 4338W to btuh, it's about 14,000 btuh and at 1800 sqft, about 8

Friends,
Are we confusing two distinct technologies?
Water Heater Heat Pumps are _not_ Water Source Heat Pumps.

that. In fact, there are two or three which are PV direct i.e.:

Dana,
I am no expert with ground source heat pumps, but I suspect that the
measurement you took was when the resistance heat strips were on, which will
only be used very infrequently in a properly designed and operated GSHP system.
Despite that, GSHP can be used off-grid with the heat
My understanding is that this needs to be approved by each individual
utility like any collar device (i.e. surge suppression). The process is not
extremely simple, but the manufacturer is looking to establish more utility
relationships. I put them in contact with our two local utilities, but no

There are many things that can affect that post temperature, so to get the
overall temperature of the battery on the side of the battery tends to be more
accurate.
When I take temp measurements on a flooded battery it’s primarily the
electrolyte temp via the well. If I suspect a shorted
The unit I clamped was a ground sourced heat pump.

What kind of power draw do you see on this unit? what kind of duty cycle do
you see for 2 people or 4 people?
I amp clamped a 1800 sqft house heat pump for DHW house heat in full power

Jason,
Even a battery stored in a warehouse at say 35C before even put into service
can/will degrade. It won’t degrade much over such a short period of time of
storage, but even batteries that sit for years if they are not boosted properly
and kept in that 77F range (25C) can develop issues.

I have had two of these on my house (I upgraded my system, so had to get

great product. Major issue is that most utilities don't have a blanket

Wrenches,
My take so far on this great discussion about heat pump hot water heaters
(HPHW's) for domestic hot water:
A HPHW powered by off-grid PV could be very effective, if there was a timer
which controlled it to only operate during daylight, so it doesn't load the
batteries at night. And
Just installed one. A little noisy (like a small refrigerator running) but
installed on a 15A/240V breaker. Sonoma County, coastal, but it's working
fine so far. Challenge was enough airspace, definitely puts out cold,
conditioned air.
