I'm having a related problem. I can get into X as a non-root user, but i
can't open crucial applications such as the file manager and Netscape.
¿Could someone tell me how to fix this?

¿Can i reinstall LILO without doing a complete reinstall of Red Had? I'm
running Red Hat 5.0 with two hard drives. The primary (first) hard drive is
all Windows 95, the secondary hard drive is all Linux. LILO was on the
primary hard drive.

Resetting mouse configuration in MetroX does not solve the problem.
THE FIX:
Before opening X-Windows, enter the following command to kill "general
purpose mouse":
Fatal server error:
Cannot open mouse (Device or resource busy)

But my query is, how the heck are they working on an OS without a kernel?
They are using RTEMS as a kernel, at least for now.
Is it supposed to be terminal or workstation based?
