The method of upgrading the kernel on RH 5.1 described on www.redhat.com
(errata) is not working properly.
I installed RH 5.1 from scratch. Moved the new kernel rpm's to /tmp and
issued: rpm -Uvh *.rpm.
This results in error message:
cannot remove /lib/modules/2.0.34-0.6 - directory not empty
I am trying to upgrade the kernel from RH 5.1 to 2.0.34-1. According the
information on www.redhat.com it should be easy: download all the RPM's in
a temp. direcotry an run: rpm -Uvh kern*.rpm.
However, it doesn't work. The system complains about
/lib/modules/2.0.34/modules.dep does not exist.

Yes, it is. However, because Netscape is installed in the non-default
directory, you need to setup an environment variable before the RealAudio
plugin is recognized.
Not really a problem I guess. I've installed RedHat 5.1 and mounted my
Win95 partition as MS-DOS partition in RH. After the installation, I
modified the file /etc/fstab and changed the word "msdos" in "vfat" for
this partition and it's working OK.

Is Doom not present in RedHat 5.1? According the manual it should be
there...

I read an advertisement about RedHat 5.1, that will be available in June.
I noticed that RedHat 5.1 contains GhostScript 3.33, whereas e.g. SuSE
Linux 5.2 contains version 4.03. Why does RedHat include an older version?

Because I have an Epson Stylus Color 200, I've updated to Ghostscript
5.10-4. Whenever I run gs without any arguments, I get an error message
(see below). I believe this did not happen with the previous (original)
version on the RedHat CD. Did I do something wrong in upgrading?

I have two questions, Netscape related.
I have installed Netscape and it woks well. However, I would like to
change two things and I can't find it in the docs how to do it:
1) I would like to make use of a proxy server: proxy.cistron.nl:8080.
2) Whenever I click on a rpm file in Netscape, it

I have problems with installing KDE Beta 4. Whenever I execure KDE with
`startkde`, I receive the error message:
error in loading shared libraries
libg++.so.27: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
Can somebody explain what is wrong? I installed KDE as follows:

I finally have the jdk-1.1.5 working on my machine. Does anyone know how
to setuup the scripts of ICQ for java (like ICQ.bat, and ICQ.cmd, these by
default are setup to windows 95 eviorment variables and paths).
