Well, I have tried floppies with files only, directories only, and a
combination. So far I have stuck with EXT2 file system. Here is one
of the floppies directory at the root of it.
[brian@rlghncwsbms2 brian]$ ls /mnt/floppy
. lib pcmcia.cgz usr
.. lost+found tmp
Aparently I see everything rigth, but probably could be affecting the line
in auto.master the line of /misc, you dont need it.
Remember to stop the autofs with "autofs stop" and then "start" to see
changes...

OK, maybe I am confused then, is autofs supose to mount the device
when I do a ls on the mount point? I thought that it is.

Of course it does until you try to use it? in your case you must put the
floppy before you try to access it...

OK. I took out the ext2 floppy device and have restarted everything.
With a floppy in the drive I still do not get a dir of the floppy when
I 'ls /floppy'.
Here is my status:

Configured Mount Points:
/usr/sbin/automount --timeout 60
What kind of files does the disk have? I mean is it a file system?
With the status you have it supouse to be working good, I have a lot of
directories mounted and I haven't any kind of problem.

I need to mount and unmount cd's and floppies automaticly. I have
read that autofs would do this for me. I have tried to configure it
myself to no success.
Can someone tell me how I can do that? Also, can I have multiple cd
drives mount in a certain directory depending on the contents of the
Exaclty what was your problem configuring the autofs?
Explain better what structure do you want with the CD's, if you can do it
manually then it can be done with autofs

Here is what I do manually. I load the cd into a drive and depending
on what cd I put in I type mount /dev/cdrom# /mnt/cdrom/grainger where
# is the number of the cd drive and grainger is one of 5 directories
that I have for the different cd's that I normally load.

if you so, then run it with the parameter status, it has to say what are
the file system that could be mounted and what are mounted.
Also , you have to creat the base directories, all the ones you put in the
