Looking for information on portable repeaters for use in SAR groups.
Must be packable for use on hilltop operations. Can this be done and
still keep the weight down and run off 12VDC? Even just a couple of HT
at 5W out and a duplexer or the like would work.
Suggestions?
Thanks

I remember years ago someone was using MX300 series radios as full
duplex. There was a mod for getting around the T/R relay and
eliminating the muting. A small mobile UHF duplexer, and you're in
business.
As a matter of fact, I think the highway callboxes here in Connecticut
used these
We have had a MSF-5000 station donated to replace of of our

Does anyone on the list know of a source to get this done?
Also, what options should be set to use the unit with an
Hey Does any one know what frequency that the coax line coming from the
LNB's to the receiver is? On direct TV.

I recently wondered the same thing about a Phelps Dodge six cavity duplexer
here. I found that all six cables including the two to the tee connector
were the same length: 8-3/4 inches tip to tip on PL-259 connectors.

The problem here was noise, lots of it,
Title: Duplexer Question
Hey all, quick question about a 2 meter repeater I just put up for testing. I'm putting out about 80 watts from the PA into the duplexer, but only getting about 55 watts out of the antenna port on the duplexer. This seems kind of high to me. The specs of the

Your insertion loss may be a little high. It
is under 3.0 dB, but is over 1.5 dB. (80, 40, 20...) Unless I am
mistaken, your power out of the duplexer should be a tad over 60W to meet
specs.

Title: Duplexer Question
Thanks. I found the problem. Bad N connector on the TX
cable which was also causing the desense. I upped the power to 100 watts into
the duplexer and get 80 out the antenna port which is within spec, and now have
no desense! :)

When all is said and done, if someone wants to do a writeup
on connecting a Icom repeater to a external controller, I'll
put it up on repeater-builder.

IF you plan to make a duplexer for two meters using 1/4 wave stubs
