The D in the part number identifies it as a VHF exciter, so it must be
followed by a tripler in a UHF station. I could not find TLD5492 in any
of my Micor manuals- are you certain about the number? Was it stamped in
black ink directly onto the exciter circuit board itself? If not, please
advise
In the original pristine FUBAR, did R stand for Repair or Recognition?

I'm probably wrong, but I've always thought it is an Australian term that
has been adopted in this country.

I've always known it as Recognition/Recovery.
For those who don't know, the rest is 'Farked' Up Beyond All.

The TLD5492A is shown in my 1979 UHF Micor Base and Repeater manual
68P81025E50-G, and is indeed as Eric suggested a VHF exciter (150.8-174 mHz)
followed by the tripler. It is part of the TLE1720B exciter assembly. The
TLD5491 is the low split version (132-150.8).
If I have a chance later,

Here is the link to the scanned PDF of the Station Alignment section from the
UHF Micor manual 68P81025E50-G, which includes the TLD5492A exciter you have.
The receiver alignment is also included.

Hope this helps.

Hi to the group,
I've been following the acronyms thread - somewhat off subject but I learned a
lot.
So it appears that repeater-builder lets the authors deviate from the original
subject matter.
I guess that even though my subject isn't directly related to the topic of

Don,
I have owned a number of GPS receivers over the years, and I feel that the
Garmin GPS76 is about the best non-professional GPS receiver I have used.
It doesn't have the centimeter-level accuracy of my Ashtech survey-grade
receiver, but it comes about as close as you can get without

It's a pilot's term, I think. Missed the target, no target found, missed the
