I was wondering if anyone in the group has ever configured a packet tnc
to a repeater controller for the ability to program it over the air via
a remote tnc. I have put the repeater tnc to transparent mode but it
does not seem to respond. Are there other setting that I need to set.

The company I work for has already been put on notice in writing that
Cingular/ATT and Verizon are actually shutting down the very day that
regulation ends in Mid Feb 2008. Others will follow soon.

The commercial version of the KPC3+ has some very nice modem like
feature sets which make it look like basically a serial port over
rf... That firmware may be better suited for your application.

Remember that most Bag phones are Analog only devices. . . .
When the carrier shuts down the Analog capability of the Cell Phone Site in
accordance with the FCC Rules/Regs/etc/whatever, the phone will not be able
to dial 911 at all. In fact, the phone won't function enough to tell you it
can't do
I have not done it myself but a repeater in Montreal did hook up a
Paccomm Tiny-2 TNC to do that application. The TNC was loaded with
TheNET X1JR4 node software and had an option to output the data on the
serial port. It also had the ability to control that function with a
password to turn
