Is anybody using an external amplifier with a Yaesu VXR-5000 repeater ? If so
please fill me in as to what type of amp you are using along with a description
of the configuration. I appreciate it !
I am not going to be able to stack the antennas. They Would be about 25-40 feet
apart horizantal. I guess what I need is 2 bandpass filters. I think thats what
I am looking for. Now the big question. Can I build them? And where would I
find the information? If I can't build them, where would be
My really rough guess is that you will need around 85dB of isolation
between the two stations. Using two antennas 25 feet apart is only
going to give you about 30dB of isolation. A bandpass filter at .64Mhz
off the center frequency will only give you around 10-20 dB more of
isolation. I
The solder jumpers D Data and F Flat only affect the freq response of
the transmitted audio. A wrong setting wouldn't interfere with PTT. I
think there was a drawing in the manual linked below, illustrating the
locations.
Are you grounding the PTT line and have reprogrammed the radio to

I have discovered my Advanced Communications Systems Mark 4 repeater /
controller manual has no board layout for the audio board. I do have the
schematic, just no parts locator drawing.
It's really hard to figure out which pot is which. I need to adjust some levels.

Most of these type and model amplifiers are not easily
re-tuned down to the Ham Bands. And as many Vocom Amplifiers

I've sent a few of these back to cresend, they tuned them for the ham band at
minimal cost, and they have worked for years.

Excellent... But I would not normally suggest someone go
inside to try and mod the amplifier down to the Amateur
Band. Things go smoother when the right people do the job
with the right parts and knowledge of how to...
