We are looking for a rugged 2-meter beam suitable for installation at the
300 foot level
on a 500 foot broadcast tower. This will be uswed to link a 440MHz sytem to
one on
2-meters about 80 miles away. Looking for suggestions for something more
stout than
the standard Cushcraft/Maxrad
Take aook at the Sinclair 206EB (end mounted beam) or
or the SRL 250 which is designed to heavier icing and hoarfrost conditions
occur.

The DB224 has only two standard patterns: omnidirectional and offset.
My club has one of these antennas at a packet node, and it is ideal for
this application. I should think that your DB224 would work perfectly
in omni configuration, if it were located in the center of the coverage

Don't bother - The mini-uhf's are not that hard to work with and easy
to get. If yours is broken just get to a Motorola shop and order the
replacement. You may even be able to order the part direct from Motorola.
