I disagree...
I have built one of these and can attest to the quality of the kit:

I was interested in James reply because I had similar experiences with newer
Hustler antennas. My club repeater, a friends repeater and my 220 repeater all
used Hustler G6 and G7 antennas for years with good success. A couple of years

that the final amp transistor can be strapped but is there any
additional modifications necessary to make this work?

Some where I am missing this thought - train , Maybe it ran over me my intelligence . But if an old auto alternator will produce 100 volts at 2000 RPM then why not 25 volts at 500 RPM 12.5 volts at 250 RPM or is the voltage not linear
I guess I have to say that I have learned not to play games with
antennas. I am try to save whatever money I need and make sure that I
only have to do the antenna once. I've had a few times I had to spend
more than the ham grade antenna was worth to fix something that went
wrong on it (by
I guess I'll reply to this one too. My G7 is about 5 years old now. I
also had a G6 (which I later gave away to someone who wanted a base
antenna) that I had about 8-10 years ago. I at one point even had a
Ringo Ranger and hated that one for anything duplex.

Seems like in the old days, when the Phoenix was new, that the synthesizer

Lets try this post again and see if I can get it right this time.

Voltage and RPM do not go hand in hand. An alternator that has a field
winding can be made to produce different voltage (current) with the
amount of excitation of the field. For the most part, RPM determines
the cyclic rate, but the rotation does

hey all,
I'm looking for suggestion on a gmrs
portable field antenna that can be used for field sar
operations. Everyone has thier gmrs license and the
repeater is approved for gmrs.So I'm thinking of
using two antennas instead of a duplexer. Any
thoughts?
thanks,
chris
Chris,
My thought: Don't bother. You'll need about 72 dB of isolation with a
typical GMRS repeater pair, and that calls for at least 39 feet of vertical
separation between the antennas. That's hardly the kind of portable antenna
setup that is appropriate for search and rescue applications.
How about horizontal spacing and changing the polarization of one of the
elements? If he does it right, that can work.
Another thing is to use a remote receiver and pipe it in thru microwave or 800
Mhz.

I repaired out APRS digi today. It has an G6 on it.
Bracket holding the antenna to the tower came loose and fell to where the
antenna was just held up by the coax 20 ft in the air. Got the antenna/ brack
mounted back on the tower, replaced the coax, and the antenna works just fine.
Now I
