Gareth, I like your portable repeater! Is it Yeasu/Vertex based? I agree that an RSSI controlled repeater could be problematic for outlying areas, so if it was implemented, we would want to take careful steps to make sure it was appropriate. My thinking was that the relatively small footprint

i am trying to use a weather receiver on aux 1 input when i turn on aux 1 it transmits as it should but when i turn it off it stops transmitting but then when the repeater is keyed i can still hear the weather radio on the tail am i doing something wrong or does the aux audio inputs not actually

Allan, First off, if it is being used as a desktop station radio (i.e., NOT duplex) the first thing that you will find is you need to add another radio chassis to be able to convert it into a repeater - the DeskTrac repeater used separate chassis (plural) for TX and RX. Mark - N9WYS
