There should be no reason you have low audio out of
the controller the 850 normally has gobs of audio
and has to be knocked down with a resistor of considerable
ohmage in order not to overdrive a transmitter.
Not in the case of the Midland Transmitter... The Transmit
Audio requirement
Often times a simple solution is the most elegant solution.

I'm looking for a couple of parts for a UHF Mastr II machine...
Audio/Squelch board, 11.2 Mhz variety, (if I can find two that might get the
VHF machine up too). Also a pair of PA transistors (UHF).
What I have now is dead. So if you have some laying around let me know what

hi just got my first kenwood repeater and i seem to have a problem i have very
poor repeat audio infact its next to nothing, if you plug a kmc9 in the front
the tx audio is lovely and clear no issues but a rx signal repeated is very very
poor even the front speaker on the tkr has to be turned to
Hello,
I wanted to thank everyone again for the recommendations on how to fix our
system. I made several of the changes posted and we replaced the antenna and
hardline with new ones.
The system is working right now. The problem with the radio power going up has
stopped and the noise is all
John,
What is the CTCSS tone frequency? You might use a service monitor to see if
some of your repeater users have excessive CTCSS deviation. Yaesu, Alinco,
and Icom radios seem to have way too much tone deviation, and-
unfortunately- the tone deviation cannot be adjusted separately from the
Okay Eric,
I will check the power supply again. But, yes most of them use Yaesu and
couple have Icoms.
But, the hum is nothing we can't live with. I don't hear it at all on the
speaker hooked to the repeater. But, of course my hearing is not the best
anymore.
All I know it is nice to have
John,
Regarding the hum - it's just trying to remember the words... ;-)
Seriously, it sounds as if you suspect CTCSS coming through, and I would
agree. First you need to know is whether this happens ALL the time or not.
If it occurs all the time, it sounds as if your repeater's CTCSS tone
Was the heatsink compound all dried out?

Okay Eric,
I will check the power supply
No, as someone had replaced one so they must have put compound on the others
when they did that.
Eric: Forgot our PL is 131.8

You know that is funny as one of the guys said that last night it did stop.
But, it was back today when he listened again.
I am thinking about placing torrids on the cable runs from the
controller(RC210) to the box where the PL tone board is and then to the radio.
Maybe put one between the

Did you order the repeater on a specific frequency? Are
you sure the receiver front end was properly aligned on

The toroid will look nice if nothing else. If it's a hum,
I might bet on an audio ground loop. I just solved one with

I read that today on one of the sites. He said to place them on the cable going
to the controller.
You are right they won't.

If it is not the grounded negative terminal I will just put in high pass filter
on the PL cable. That should help reduce it or remove it.
Thanks all.
