It seems a shame to use a full-duplex radio, complete with an internal
controller, as a base station- but it will work. Since the R1225 has
separate TX and RX connectors- the rear one is TX and the front one is RX-
you will need to install a T/R relay in order use a single antenna.
I'll trade you that R1225 for an equivalent half-duplex radio (GM300)
that already has a nice built-in control head and T/R relay
