*Location:* Sunrise, FL

*Type:* Full Time  OR Contractor

*Min. Experience:* Entry Level



*Job Tasks:*

- Execution of day to day data corrections.
- Generation of reports both ad hoc and routine.
- Ensure that access to data is restricted to only those who need it.
- Monitor the performance of database servers.
- Optimize queries and tables.



*Should have Requirements:*

- Understand the concept of a foreign key.
- Have worked with a production database.
- An understanding of best practices.
- A strategy for data management within the scope of your own work (how you
handle data you are working with or changing).
- Protecting Data when updating tables.
- Understand how to rename a database, table, column or row.
- Understand the use of the keyword limit.
- Be able to log into a MySQL database with a non-graphical client.



*Nice to have:*

- Be able to perform joined updates and deletions.
- Experience with Stored Procedures.
- Experience backing up and restoring a database or table.
- Experience installing and configuring MySQL at the server level.
- Experience with an HA environment.
- Experience with Linux.
- Understanding the slow query log output.
- Understanding the difference between transactional tables and
non-transactional tables and when you might use either.
- Understanding the scope of variables.
- Work experience in either HIPAA or PCI complaint environments.



*Bonus:*

- Perl or PHP or Ruby or Python or any sort of script based programming
language.
- Use of other DB's is nice but not necessary.
- A programming background is a plus, but should not be an architect level
programmer.
- A security background is also good.

- Analysis of existing database operating environment with purpose of
identifying performance inefficiencies.
- Adjusting MYSQL configuration to optimize performance.
- Making architectural modifications to boost transactional throughput.
- Validating data integrity and data assurance.
- Establishing a backup/recovery process in a highly transactional database
environment.


Plans and coordinates the administration of computerized databases,
including relational databases, to ensure accurate, appropriate, and
effective use of data, including database definition, structure,
documentation, long-range requirements, and operational guidelines. Performs
quality control audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper usage of
data in tables and various support tools, such as database dictionaries.
Reviews database design and integration of systems, including
client/servers, mainframes, etc., and makes recommendations regarding
enhancements and/o! r improvements. May establish and maintain security and
integrity controls. Provides appropriate consulting, interfacing, and
standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity
and utilization. Prepares and/or reviews activity, progress, and performance
reports.Typical of the Senior Specialist demonstrates the knowledge and
ability to perform the in all of the basic database management skills of
data administration, web connectivity, physical structure, SQL and SQL
applications, and overall architecture and database analysis. In addition
applies detailed and specific knowledge of at least one of these areas.
Plans and configures the physical database environment. Evaluates and
recommends the purchase and utilization of technologies such as DMBS/s,
servers, extract and conditioning tools, metadata management, security tools
and archival and recovery tools and data access. Develops project plans for
implementing data warehouses. Plans projects and ov! ersees the tactical
aspects of a data warehouse implementation! and mai ntenance. Diagnoses,
resolves and implements preventive measures to prevent problems for
applications and system software. Designs data storage and management
processes for specific data warehouse projects. Recommends and oversees
implementation of system level configuration modifications to optimize
performance. Ensures maintenance of physical integrity of all production
databases.
