Erm... I already have a replacement for the current /usr/bin/printf codebase ready (e.g. the code itself is already finished) which covers CR #6649911 and almost all of the other outstanding RFEs and bug reports for /usr/bin/printf ... right now we're waiting for the ARC case being started (see http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/ksh93-integration-discuss/2007-December/005831.html for the draft).
