Re: How can I debug ReviewBoard Authentication problems?

2018-02-21 Thread Alfred von Campe
Christian:

This problem was really frustrating. Basically ReviewBoard had been down for
two days. I had modified the Authentication setting first to use one of the 3
remaining good domain controllers to no avail, and after your email I listed
all 3 DCs but still no joy. However, restarting Apache made it work. The
reason I didn’t try that earlier is that I rebooted the server yesterday so I
didn’t think restarting Apache would make a difference.

I will try to use LDAP instead of Active Domain when I set up the new server,
which I plan to do in the next few weeks (and upgrade from 2.5.6.1 to 3.latest
at the same time).

Thanks as always for your help,
Alfred

Hi Marcin,

I swore I responded to this two days ago.. Apparently not though.

When you say you added a temporary domain in the config, can you show me
what you had and what you added? I'm confused about how this would impact
Review Board's logging.

Re: How can I debug ReviewBoard Authentication problems?

2018-02-21 Thread Christian Hammond
Hi Alfred,

The old one should not be in the cache, but you can try to restart Apache
just to ensure it's picking up the new settings.

You should be able to list multiple domain controllers, each separated by a
space. It will try each one in order.

We can do better with the errors, slightly (listing the domain controller
in this error at a minimum). I'll track this for 3.0.4.

It should be /media/ by default, yes. Blank would be incorrect (and we'll
have to update our logic to validate this).

You might need to clear memcached and your browser cache after making the
change, just to ensure that you're not seeing stale content.

 If it is, can you open the browser’s developer console, reload the

Hi Vince,

Right now, yes, it is. We count the total filed, not the total number of
users who have filed one.

We made the first steps in 3.0 to change Ship It logic (letting you remove
them), but want to work toward a better model for invalidating older Ship
Its on updates and to better exposer the behind-the-scenes concept of
approval. For now, though, what you're seeing is expected behavior.

Re: How can I debug ReviewBoard Authentication problems?

2018-02-21 Thread Alfred von Campe
Christian:

The original domain controller configured in ReviewBoard is still down, but
I’ve reconfigured the ReviewBoard instance to use a different domain
controller, which I can see both in the Web UI as well as in the database.
However, the problem still occurs. The only problem shown in the log file is:

2018-02-21 12:27:45,084 - WARNING -  - Active Directory: Domain controller is
down
2018-02-21 12:27:45,085 - ERROR -  - Active Directory error: Could not contact
any domain controller servers

It’s almost as if the original domain controller is still cached somewhere - is
that a possibility, and if so, how do I clear the cache? Also, to avoid this
problem in the future, is there a way to provide a fallback domain controller
so that if one is down, ReviewBoard automatically checks the next one?

Thanks! That's very helpful. So there's definitely a bug here, and we'll be
able to get a fix for this in for the next release (targetting next Tuesday).

This is happening because no avatar data is being returned for one of the
users in the group, and it's breaking the widget, which is assuming the
presence of an avatar. You can address this by having an avatar configured for
that user, or (temporarily) turning off avatars while configuring the group.
Not great, but at least there's a workaround.

Thanks! Unfortunately I'm not able to reproduce.. I'd need to see a stack
trace to know more, but since that's for some reason not appearing in the log,
that's not readily accessible.

Something you can temporarily enable is `DEBUG = True` in
`$sitedir/conf/settings_local.py`. This would turn on some more extensive error
pages when encountering a HTTP 500 error. You'd need to set it and then restart
Apache, then visit the page to see it. You wouldn't want it on long, as it does
impact other aspects of the product, but it should give you some details on
where the error is occurring. If you could save the HTML for that page to a
file locally and then attach it here as a private attachment (upload and click
the lock icon), I'll be able to see it.

No problems:
1. Click on "Review Groups" in Admin Dashboard;
2. Click on "Add Review Group" in Review Groups page;
3. Fill name and display name with "test";
4. Add some user into the group;
5. Click on "Save" and you will be redirected on Review Groups page.
6. Click on group "test' in the table
7. You have Error 500.

I'm sorry if the names of the buttons and pages aren't exact. My interface
is translated in Russian partially and I don't know how to change the language.

PS: If you miss step 4 you won't have the error.

Is the 500 on Save, and if you reload the page are you able to view the
page? If so, is the user saved when you view it?

Can you go through the exact steps, every entered field and mouse click, so
I can attempt an identical repro case?

 Hello,

 after a while without issues the pdf review and picture reviews stopped
 working without any known reason. After uploading files the files are
 correctly uploaded, but thumbnail is not visible and in pdf case there is
 just the "loading circle" instead as can be seen in attached picture. The
 text files including .c, .cpp and .h are working without any problems.

 Files are correctly uploaded to the server and can be downloaded back
 without any problems. MIME types are also correct (application/pdf and
 image/png). Both of these reviews worked after installation.

 I have tried to find similar problems but encountered only one similar
 situation without any clue of solution. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Hmm, there should be. How about the Apache error log?

Was logging just now enabled, or was already enabled when the error first
occurred?

Can you check the reviewboard.log for errors? (If you don't have one in
your `$sitedir/logs/` directory, you may need to enable logging first). There
should be a traceback describing where in the code the crash occurred.

Error 500 occurs if one try to access to a revie group
==

# What version are you running?

ReviewBoard 3.0.3
# What's the URL of the page containing the problem?

http://10.155.26.78/reviewboard/admin/db/reviews/group/19/

# What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a review group;
2. Add a user to the group;
3. Click on the group in the review group table
(/reviewboard/admin/db/reviews/group/)

# What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expected to see the group opened to edit, but I see:

Something broke! (Error 500)

# What operating system are you using? What browser?

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, Firefox 58.0.2

# Please provide any additional information below.

I started happening after upgrade from 2.5 to 3.0.3.
If a groupd review is empty (doesn't have any users) it works ok.
