Even if you upgrade Python, your tools (like pip, easy_install, mod_wsgi,
etc.) may be using older versions.
That said, pycrypto *should* work with Python 2.6. Can you show me the full
error message?

Hi Christian,
Python version was 2.6.6 in the initial run. I recently upgraded it to
2.7.10 but that doesn't seem to help. It still fails with the same error.

Review Board 1.7 is pretty old, and will soon be unsupported. I'd recommend
getting a newer install, which may require a newer distro.
