@yhuai thanks! My impression was that `get_json_object` does not convert
json arrays to `ArrayType`s, maybe I misunderstood the way it's supposed to be
used though.

I can reproduce the issue that @jurriaan reports on 1.6.0 and on 1.5.2. The
issue does not occur on 1.3.1.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. Initially, I had naively assumed that
the functionality you added was just a layer above the Hive API hence it was a
bit confusing

regular Hive UDF API, right? (Like when I would run `hiveContext.sql(CREATE
TEMPORARY FUNCTION
