I essentially load the same programs, but load Yoshimi before qsynth.

Hmm. I've never had to do that. But then, I don't think I've had any of
the 4 I use do such a crash and burn. I don't use Zyn because I've had
it hang too often for me. I also don't think it's as RT friendly; at low
latencies, it seems to hang a lot.

Hmmm. I don't a disconnect all, I just close each program in the order I
opened them in. Then stop JACK in qjackctl and close it.

I'm using Aptosid - Debian Sid. Without KDE4 - it starts up too many KDE
system processes and consumes too many resources for me. So my
experiences might not accord with yours. God knows what weird things
OpenSuse and/or KDE4 might be doing! ;-)

Just a few observations (OpenSuse-12.2/KDE4) with ref to the problems with
qjackctl.

I normally load qjckctl, qsynth, Zyn and rosegarden in that order.

Few MAJOR probs so long as everything stays up but if any of the quartet
stumble, hang or crash then all hell breaks loose and I may need to do up to 4
reboots to sort out the mess.

It helps if in such a case I quickly do a pkill on all 4 before the first
reboot.

If on the other hand everything lasts the sesion and this time "I" want to put
and end to it then it helps a LOT if I first click Disconnect-All in the
qjackctl connections map.

I know everyone wanted to hear from me again, so there :-)
