A week or two ago I posted asking about how people deal with CPAN
modules when using an automated process to build RT machines, and it got
me wondering, how does the Best Practical crew do it?
I imagine while testing you guys put up and take down hundreds of RT

Hello,
I have been using RT 3.2.1 for several years now and it proved very
robust and useful. I am now considering upgrading to a newer release
and I selected 3.8.0 though it is quite new.
I installed a new server :
The platform is Scientific Linux 5.2 which is a clone of RedHat EL 5.2.

I created a component and added it to everyone's front page. When I

Hi List,
Just upgraded our demo unit from 3.6.7 to 3.8.0 and notice that the
History is displayed with bigger spaces between lines than 3.6.7, and
i assume fonts are bigger too.
This cause the History to take long space when displayed and reading
isn't as comfortable as the other version.

hi:
your upgrade procedure is like what i did, which is wrong.
if you use mysql, you should run the mysql upgrade script first,
then run the rt upgrade script. or you will get empty RT at glance page.

So in upgrading to 3.8, I noticed that our logo disappeared. I knew that I
had been following best practices (or at least trying to) by using my
$RTHOME/local directory to change elements, etc. but the images seem to be
stored and served out of share instead of local. I found two old threads:
The logo element is set to not display in the CSS. I'd tried enabling
it, but with 3.8 it breaks the visual layout pretty badly, so we decided
to leave it be.

Thanks Kenneth... I'd read your post some time back about this solution,
but with 3.8 the session management code has changed quite considerably

Erik,
You have to put your logo in the local version of the share directory
as well as set up your configuation to point the right stuff. See below:
Set($WebBaseURL, https://(your URL));
Set($WebImagesURL , $WebPath . /NoAuth/images/); # need this for below

THat's good to know. I will appreciate the update. Thanks.

Greetings!
Has anyone had experience with data migration from other systems?
Specifically, we're moving from Mantis to RT, both with MySQL backends
but on physically different systems. It would be nice if we could
preserve the historical data that currenly resides on the older system.

I upgraded our RT from 3.6.6 to 3.8 and the CommandByMail extension has stop
working.
I found the updated version posted by Kevin Falcone at CPAN; 0.06. I
followed the instructions to get it setup with 3.8, but it is still not
working.
Any help is welcome.

Alas, SetupSessionCookie has changed dramatically in 3.8, and there
seems to no longer a $session_properties hash in the application at all

I've tested CGI::Cookie in a standalone CGI app, and in that situation
it worked properly.

would REALLY be appreciative of anyone who could send us a good perl

I saw your followups on this issue, but I want to comment this.
Yes, these fixes I was talking about have been integrated into 3.8.0
and as well several fixes would be in 3.8.1 (3.8.1rc1 is available at
this moment for download from our server).

I was looking through the archives and noticed that there was mention of

1) check option --with-db-rt-host

Also want to note that you should run setup-database from dir where RT
