In 3.8.0 fulltext search on mysql is case sensitive and we can not do anything about that at this point. We either have to use external fulltext indexing service like Sphinx or by refactoring our DB to split binary and text content and using MyISAM (not transactional) table for text as mysql's

I need some suggestions, I have come to the conclusion that all utf8 collations don't do french properly, not like latin1 anyway. All accents are seen as the same, while binary distinct they cannot be unique indexed and sorting will recognize them as the same as well as queries using any
