The University of Alabamas all-time leading passer, Andrew Zow, has signed with the Birmingham Steeldogs of the af2 indoor football league. Zow, who passed for 5,983 yards at Alabama from 1998-01, will compete for the starting job with the Steeldogs, coached by former Crimson Tide running back Bobby Humphrey. The native of Lake Butler, Fla., will be starting his second stint with the Steeldogs. He signed a one-week contract last summer to serve as the teams emergency quarterback, but did not play. Zow is the 10th former University of Alabama player to be assigned to the Steeldogs in the teams six-year history. Former Alabama and Tuscaloosa County High School defensive lineman David Daniel played in Birmingham last season and is still listed on the teams active roster. The Steeldogs will open their home schedule April 9 against San Diego at the BJCC Arena. [RollTideFan] US MARINE
This was too good not to share. Joe [I]t is a common observation here that our cause is the cause of all mankind, and that we are fighting for their liberty in defending our own. Benjamin Franklin, letter to Samuel Cooper, May 1, 1777 SUBJECT: US MARINE News anchors Dan Rather and Peter Jennings, NPR Reporter Cokie Roberts, along with a U.S. Marine assigned to protect them were hiking through the Iraq desert one day when they were captured by Iraqis. They were tied up, led to a village, and brought before the leader. The leader said, "I am familiar with your western custom of granting the condemned a last wish; so, before we kill and dismember you, do you have any last requests?" Dan Rather said, "Well I'm a Texan, so I'd like one last bowlful of hot spicy chili." The leader nodded to a underling who left and returned with the chili. Rather ate it all and said, "Now I can die content." Peter Jennings said, "I am Canadian, so I'd like to hear the song 'o Canada' one last time." The leader nodded to a terrorist who had studied the Western world and knew the music. He returned with some rag-tag musicians and played the anthem. Jennings sighed and declared he could now die peacefully. Cokie Roberts said, "I'm a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape recorder and describe the scene here and what's about to happen. Maybe someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job till the end." The leader directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder and Roberts dictated some comments. She then said, "Now I can die happy." The leader turned and said, "And now, Mr. U.S. Marine, what is your final wish." "Kick me in the ass," said the Marine. What?" asked the leader? "Will you mock us in your last hour?" "No I'm not kidding. I want you to kick me in the ass." Insisted the Marine. So the leader shoved him into the open, and kicked him in the ass. The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9mm pistol from inside his cammies, and shot the leader dead. In the resulting confusion, he leapt to his knapsack, pulled out his M16 Rifle, and sprayed the Iraqis with gunfire. In a flash, all the Iraqis were dead or fleeing for their lives. As the Marine was untying Rather, Jennings, and Roberts, they asked him, "Why didn't you just shoot them at the start?" Why did you ask them to kick you in the ass first?" "What," replied the Marine, "and have you three assholes call me the aggressor" No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.Version: 7.0.308 / Virus Database: 266.7.3 - Release Date: 3/15/2005 No virus found in this outgoing message.Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.Version: 7.0.308 / Virus Database: 266.7.3 - Release Date: 3/15/2005 ___ RTF mailing list RTF@rolltidefan.net http://rolltidefan.net/mailman/listinfo/rtf_rolltidefan.net
Re: [RollTideFan] How now brown Zow?
I don't seem to remember him sucking so bad the night we beat LSU in their house when he scored 14 points in the final few minutes to keep the long winning streak alive in their house. I also have the 1999 Florida game on DVD where he and Shawn Alexander whipped da Gaytors 40 - 39. He didn't sick there either. I know, I know, there are numerous instances where he did cost us some big games. But he did win a few as well. I appreciate him for those big wins. Gawd I love Bama!
