Actually, you comments reminded me of something I left out of the original post. There were a *lot* of Bama fans at the game last night. The local alumni chapter really got the Tide faithful out to the game! There was so much crimson before the game it almost looked like the game was in Coleman. Unfortunately, we were very spread out and mostly in the nose bleed seats, so we couldn't really get a lot of group cheering going. If it hadn't been for some layups and a dunk we would not have scored at all. By my count we were 0-8 from three land before hitting 3-4 to finish the half 4-12 behind the stripe. UNCC is a really good team. They should be in the tournament again at the end of the year. ...bitching or calling for Shula's head (hi Hugh!), I thought I would offer some observations I have typed out throughout the game (as opposed to knee-jerk reactions to a disappointing loss): 1) Their defense is very fast. Almost OU fast. We got caught from behind and/or in the backfield a lot. 2) Our OL really misses Justin. 3) Too many damn penalties!! 4) The offense really let the D down tonight. I love D, but too much time on the field is a bad thing. 5) That RB (Turner) of theirs is good - very good. Elusive burst of speed, difficult to tackle alone, nearly impossible to tackle high. 6) Our Kickoff coverage is much improved, but punt coverage still lacks. We definitely lost the field position battle tonight. 7) Did I mention too many penalties? Overall, NIU is much better than I thought. The win over Maryland was no fluke, and they did their damndest to take us out of our game tonight. Roll Damn Tide, anyway! I'm not a big fan of that gray (grey) jersey either, but keepers must wear a color distinctive from the rest of team.
