I am an electronical engineering student, and for my thesis I think of
using RTLinux 2.0. My problem is the following:
I have a certain pulse that is being attached to the parallel port. The
lenght of the pulse is +/- 100ms
I want to be able to get a value that is representing the length

You mean 1 nanosecond?
Independent from the operating system, this is not managable
with the parallel-port of a PC, since each read access will take
about one microsecond: the read has to go the way
