Looking some help from anyone who's got SMS alerting working within Ireland
...
I've got it setup and working fine in our Belfast POP using Orange UK, but
having no joy with any SMSC's in our Dublin POP. If any you have done it
before and fancy sharing, please do. :)
Cheers,
Carl

Have you considered using sms gateway (winsms.com) and a mobile phone? May
be cheeper that using +44 calls and probably more reliable.

Mike,
Thanks for this, worked first time. Where
did you get the info from? T-mobile couldnt provide me with this info
and its not on the servers alive webpage. Also one more favour; do you
have the SMSC number for O2 (formerly BT Cellnet)?, the numbers they provided
me with dont work
Err, I
think the info came from Dirks web site!!

and you're doing a grand job!
The URL for Servers Alive is http://www.woodstone.nu/salive
The pager settings page is http://www.woodstone.nu/salive/pagersettings.asp
Looking at the numbers it seems both are the same.
UK Orange 44 07785 43 8,n,1 TAP
and
UK Vodafone Mobiles (TAP) 44 07785 43 8,n,1 TAP
Most likely they are Vodaphone numbers.
Other Vodaphone numbers I found (but didn't test since I'm not in the UK)
Those I found (but didn't test since I'm not in Ireland):
[Esat Digifone (IRL)]+353 (86) 8525352

Library=TAP
ModemConfig=8N1
[Eircell (IRL)] +353 (1) 2607000

I agree with Richard, great product - This might interest and baffle
you, I have tried the pager settings on your webpage for both one 2 one
and UK cellnet, whilst neither of them have worked for me, the
0778543 sends texts to T-mobile (formerly one to one)and O2
(formerly UK cellnet).
which would explain the different beliefs. Can anyone say for certain
a) who it belongs to?
b) if it is Vodafone, what number should I use for Orange? (The other one
listed, UK Orange Fleet 44 07973 100601, doesn't seem to want to play
ball)
07785 is Vodafone -
It is definitely Vodaphone's as it is the one quoted in their TAP
Service White Paper they sent me. It is also not a supported service i
am told, as they are trying to get people to use GPRS. So don't try
calling them if it doesn't work - as their Helpdesk appears not to know
about it either.

Both report 'logon failed' in the SA logging. :(
George,
I've been using SAlive version 3.2.1087 to notify me via my ArchWireless
alph-numeric pager for a few months now. Sometimes I fail to receive
the pages but I think the problem is the patchy pager coverage in my
area and not a problem between SA and ArchWireless.
Below are the settings
Thanks so much. I'm going to save that info, but I decided to let it send messages to
my Nextel phone/pager/whatever since I already carry it all the time and decided I
don't really like two things hanging off my tail. I'm not too sure its' dialup is the
most reliable either but time will
FYI: Some more scripts that work with Servers Alive
uptime.asp
I have created an ASP page that should run on any IIS server with the ASP
Component and ActivePerl installed. You may have to make some changes to
the code because I have hard-coded the source of the STmm.log file.

Dirk,
I am running a Win2k machine with only server alive running on it. I am
wanting to load Symantec remote console also and want to make sure that it
will not affect server alive in anyway. Thank you for your time.
