here is a difference to the ones you provide. I think it is an
original MGT/Samco one, with the "T.V./MONITOR" white label on one
end, but no label on the other end (didn't they have a similar label
on the other end?) - so maybe it has been messed about with at some
point!

The SAA1099 core in question comes straight out of MAME and isn't as good as
SAASound - for example, the envelope controller is not emulated correctly
and this means you won't get any 3-bit audio samples coming out of Mac
SimCoupe.
dave - still deciding whether to GPL SAASound or ju
(and maybe the ROM) would need to be patched in some way to
accept this, but wouldn't it be good - if for example if you could
click on an image and it could bypass the SAM startup and go straight
into a game or a SAM app.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of that. I just remembered the letter I got with
the replacement ROM that said yuo shouldn't use the new DOS with the
old ROM.
