It's a cheap (Jetway) Mobo with a built in RealTec Lan card.
All seemed well and was V.quick with Linux clients.
I disabled the onboard LAN and inserted a £5 PCI RealTEc 8139 and it is fine
with Windows as well?
I am pleased that it works but

I don't have a url handy at the moment, but you want to look at using

Hey there,
I'm planning on setting up a mixed windows network (there are 98, 2000
and XP clients on it). I want to use two Linux servers for the network,
one will act as the mail server (which will hold the users accounts) and
another one will be the fileserver for massive storage and backup.

Hi,
I just tried to build samba 2.2.7a with cups and acl, but it did
not work out of the box without fixing source/Makefile.in,
source/configure.in and include/smb_acls.h.
If you have the time, please have a look at the following patches:

Samba List,
I was wondering if anyone knew the whereabouts of the libsmb documentation. It
would really help, I'm writing a NetBIOS tool right now and it would help if
someone could point me in it's direction.
Thanks
I tip my hat to you. I just installed 2.2.7.a and yes there is definitely a
big improvement in speed. I did have to set encrypt password = no to actually
start browsing, I will have to read on this for encrpytion.
I did a clean install with 7.3.1 of Openvms, 5.3 of TCPIP and 6.5 of 'C'.
