Ok. Here's another one.
I can attach to shares on my Samba 2.2.8/ Red Hat Linux 8.0 server just
fine with WinNT/9x but only occasionally with Win2000 using the same
username/password combo. I am running winbind and authenticating with NT
domain accounts. Any ideas?

Samba does not use the UNIX/Linux /etc/passwd file, it will only look at
the smbpasswd file. You need to add users to the smbpasswd file. You
can do this with the following command: smbpasswd -a user name. If
you have swat running, you can use the swat interface to add users as
well.

syslog files, or messages repeatedly appearing at the command line. When I
installed Samba (FreeBSD ports) I inadvertently configured it sith syslog.

own solutions, perhaps querying chage and then modifying login scripts,
