in many expamples it is proposed to take UPPER letters for machine
accounts.
Making machine accounts is related to useradd, and in some
distributions (p.e. Mandriva, slackware) this program doesn't allow
UPPER letters (the problem is related to some terminal programs. p.e.
Of course, it is possible. Enable the WINS server on your PDC and tell your
clients to use it. This can be achieved in two ways:
- setting them up by hand (slow and painful solution, if your network has a
lot of hosts)
- using DHCP options number 44 and number 46. Option 44 stands for WINS
server

Hi there, I'm having a wierd problem where the driver for one printer
displays a different UI from a samba server, compared to any other MS
machine sharing the same printer. I'm running an ubuntu box with
samba 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.4. The printer is a Ricoh Afficio 5560.

Had the same problem with the Aficio 350. You can just install the
driver locally and not use the Samba spool at all (direct IP printing).
That seems to be the best angle with my device. It's a shame, because it
really ought to work.
