Hi the list.
I have couple of issues that may or maynot be related to winbind. All of our
servers except 1 are running on rh 3.0.20a without problem. But the main
FileStore which was recently upgrade/replace has on it the latest 3.0.21c

Hi the list,
Bit of an odd one, have asked before but its now a real issue.
I have all working fine and dandy AD and 6/7 Samba boxes getting user

Normally you would specify the user shell in /etc/passwd, but to get AD

Hi all.
Just noticed something about my VFS recycle options.
When I delete a file it maintains the old date. i.e file was last modified
on 8th oct that's the date it keeps on the file, rather than overwriting it
with a new date, i.e the date it was deleted.
My config is;

Yay! Many thanks guys, ill apply it some point tonight and report back any
issues, or if it works even :)

Hi,
Ironically enough I also had this same issue this morning, ive traced it
back to a howto get squid and samba authenticating off a windows PDC. In the
faq it tells you to chown root:squid and chmod 770
Set it back to 750, winbindd would now start and squid was quite happy to
authenticate

Ive got round it for now by restarting samba in the middle of the night.

Hi the list
Got a small issue in that the directive valid users = username doesn't
work under a share when using winbind/AD for authentication.
If I remove it, it works, but obviously anyone can see/use it.
Everything else seems to work, getent passwd wbinfo -u etc permissions etc

Hi the list (again)
Got a pretty major issue now
Did the samba link to AD on a couple of redhat es3 servers using samba
3.0.14a
Everything seems ok
Except when I do a getent passwd username
Server 3
getent passwd ross

Server 2
getent
Just added another server and its showing the same and server 3 and 2 ...
It is a case of blatting the tdb's ?

Hi list
Got an odd problem here.
But, ive followed the howtos etc getting pam authentication to work etc
Ive just setup imap, the domain username is test
When I run getent passwd im returned with

When I logon onto the
machine sees them, will have only the username part
(without the Domain) and you can work as expected.
Simply put
winbind use default domain = yes
in your smb.conf
There is a catch though. You can't have users with the same username under
different domains
