SCOPE OF SERVICES
MTAHQ Enterprise Security requires consultancy services / expertise to
assist with daily support of Information Technology Security services at
MTA Headquarters. Responsibilities include supporting the user community
and help desk to resolve network security issues and on-going departmental
projects. This consultant would both deploy and maintain internal systems
and controls to detect, investigate, document, and report network security
violations, intrusions, or other inappropriate use. The consultant would
start immediately for a work engagement of limited duration – an estimated
5 months.
These services will also require and individual who is a skilled project
manager with hands-on experience in performing the implementation of
network security products including but not limited to Checkpoint
Firewalls, evaluating firewall policies and reducing rule base size, and
reviewing the security of wireless networks.
The consultancy services would also support the development and
implementation of the MTA security awareness and virus management programs;
evaluate security products and test security systems performance; assist in
planning, implementing, and testing disaster recovery procedures;
participates in making formal risk assessments related to network security.
The consultant must be able to meet the general responsibilities of:
Identifying threats, vulnerabilities and risks to the MTA environment
Recommending and assisting in of our network design and logical
infrastructure
Assessments of our firewalls, wireless access/entry points and desktops
Provide technical support and assistance to other internal groups and MTA
Agencies (MTA Police Department, EITG Infrastructure, New York City
Transit, Bridges and Tunnels, etc.), as needed
THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE IS MANDATORY: Mandatory Skill/Expertise
Four (4) to Six (6) years’ experience (Level 2) with working in an
Information Technology Security Department.
Must have to the ability to work in a team player
environment.
Excellent verbal, communication and writing
skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle critical situations in
a 24X7 environment.
Solid experience with administration and management of systems, networking,
security applications and equipment including servers, proxies, routers,
switches, firewalls and VPN devices
Check Point Firewalls - Especially the Security Gateway Appliances, GAIA,
Security Software Blades, and Virtualization Security
McAfee Security Products – Specifically McAfee Web Gateway (Proxy Server)
Mobile Device Management
Virtual Private Network solutions (E.g., Juniper Networks, Checkpoint, or
F5)
Dynamic, Static and LAN-to-LAN Virtual Private Networking
Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (E.g., McAfee and Checkpoint)
RSA Security Products
Experience and familiarity with Windows 7, Windows server 2008, UNIX, and
VMWare
Holding a current CISSP or technical security certifications (e.g., GIAC
and Checkpoint certification).
Completion of extensive security training.
