Hello, The PGN file is bigger even when the games have no comments because it's a simple text file: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable_Game_Notation I don't know the technical details, but the SCID format is more compact. Thank you for using SCID! B

I have unchecked such boxes which helped (scid3 and scid4 attached): - export comments - indent comments - export variations - indent variations - convert null moves to comments Someone can test various configurations to see how big database will be with some parameters. Mike: "Column style
