It wasn't Oprah's couch that started the decline, it was his
appearance on BET's 106 and Park. Tom Cruise has been diluting his
brand for years now. He buys into a studio -- that studio then fails.
He becomes the most recognizable face of Scientology -- then
scientology comes under
rave, this start doesn't shock me in the least, considering the
multiple-personality marketing the movie was given. First it was tagged as
an over-the-top action-comedy, then, last month, they repackaged it as a
more serious action-adventure-espionage flick. Now, it's sort of a blend of
the two.

Again considering my loathing of Tommy-Boy, I don't WANT to see him back on
top. He is, as you said, the poster boy for Scientology. If he goes down in
flames, here's hoping that the entire mausoleum goes down with him.
