Re: [sdre-l]: RE: Dan in Dashboard Confessional
I dont even need to hear the band to know exactly what they sound like. I also assume most people listening to Sunny Day right now are people who still find Weezer to be interesting. 16 year old girls with thick rimmed glasses. Thank you all, take care. matt
Re: [sdre-l]: RE: Dan in Dashboard Confessional
You are right, I should unsubscribe, how do you do this? Sorry to anyone who was offended. And for me, its not about the popularity of bands, that doesnt make them uncool. I loved Weezer when they were popular, they put out a much less than stellar CD, and I dont like them, its not too hard to understand. I feel that Radiohead is far and away the best band around right now, and I am willing to bet they sell around the same ammount of CDs Weezer does. And they most certainly sell an equal or higher ammount of concert tickets. I love Coldplay, and I see them on MTV all the time. I only wish more of the bands I listen to were popular. SDRE ran its course, and they had some beautiful music. Maybe what the rest of the guys put out will be good. Only time will tell. I just hope it was Dan who was listening to Styx and Rush during the recording of the last CD, not Jeremy. matt
Re: [sdre-l]: RE: Dan in Dashboard Confessional
I used to think he was terrible, but I've changed my opinion to just really bad. The problem as I see it is ignorant mall kids trying to be hip (whatever that means) and not figuring out that DC is simply the poor man's Elliot Smith, Damien Jurado, Elvis Costello, Aimee Mann, [insert your favorite singer/songwriter here], etc. Plus, the music is just really fucking boring and not very good. Fourth-rate Rites of Spring lyrics don't work well over unoriginal chord changes delivered via acoustic guitar strumming. RE: [sdre-l]: RE: Dan in Dashboard Confessional
Dan's influence can most definitely be heard in the upcoming Dashboard EP So Impossible. Hes very happy playing for them, I dont know if I've ever ehard him happier. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Christina Buech Sent: Wednesday, November 21, 2001 7:29 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [sdre-l]: RE: Dan in Dashboard Confessional Chris, agreed.. having read the message I downloaded some mp3s and gave them a try I'm not convinced.. I didn't hear anything that would make the band special. Also, I didn't really hear how Dan would fit in there.. so I'll just wait for an album and try that one, maybe he gives D.C. a different quality? I saw Dan with D.C. last week and I have to say he didn't look 1/10 as happy as he did with SDRE. Especially when SDRE would play j'nuh, there was no matching the grin on his face. I also have to say, that I did not like D.C. in the least bit. Even though I wanted to watch Dan, I just couldn't take the music. I didn't go into that show expecting SDRE, but considering that there were a good 600 people there, they must be at least ok. Wrong. Chris
