I'm interested in this feature too. Actually I was researching MediaWiki API
(http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API) and it seams to be quite simple to
extend for ask query implementation.

I am wondering whether there is an API for building richer clients using
semantic annotations of the wiki via an XML RPC or REST or any other
kind of API which copuld be facilitated using AJAX?
