I used to get those 'stones' from time to time.  I wouldn't notice them until they got big enough that I could feel them while swallowing or that they'd rub against and irritate the tissues that the tonsils normally touch.  I found that if I had a long enough swab I could loosen them and

Me too, in my twenties. Sometimes they would cough up. A few times I poked them out, and remember one time there was some blood behind it in the crypt, which makes me wonder whether the blood was dumping garbage there. Gargling would surely be a good idea, and perhaps help dislodge them so
