Hi, Arginine probably works by opening your arteries, just like beet root does. I have a friend who told me they had a cold sore coming on and they dabbed a bit of DMSO on it and by the next morning, it was gone, which makes sense because DMSO works by bringing abnormal back to normal. Jean On
