Hi Brian:
Just install the
initrd_template RPM and if it installs sucessfully, without
complaining about MD5 sum mismatch, then it's fine.

update the spec file such that you don't have to manually modify
/etc/rpm/macros.prelink, that'd be great...

That's weird - perhaps it has
something to do with Ubuntu's rpmbuild.
What happens if you extract
out the spec file and built it with 'rpmbuild -ba'?
