Allan, thanks for the explanation.
So the name "gpu" is not that generic. It actually means something to SLURM, or
its plugin.
This leads me another related question: how do I define a generic resource that
isn't associated with any real device?

George

We explicitly exclude shared usage from our measurement:
JobAcctGatherType=jobacct_gather/cgroup
JobAcctGatherParams=NoShare?

Ah, but that's a file (OK character special device), not a directory. ;-)

Hi Andy,
thanks for the advice.
I've got a problem running the command you mentioned:
scontrol show config | grep MailProg
slurm_load_ctl_conf error: Unable to contact slurm controller (connect
failure)
There's a directory /var/spool/slurmd, where there's an empty file
calledcred_state.

Uwe,
I've created slurm user and edited the value in slurm.conf. However, it
still shows the same error message:
sudo slurmctld -D -
slurmctld: pidfile not locked, assuming no running daemon
slurmctld: error: Configured MailProg is invalid
slurmctld: error: Job accounting information
Hi Erica
Which Linux distro are you using? Which version?
Also can you post the output of the following commands:
sestatus
lsb_release -a
which mail
As for the /var/log/audit directory, if the software wants it to be there
then there's no harm in creating it.
mkdir -p /var/log/audit
chown
You should be ideally specifying a directory under /var/spool
e.g /var/spool/slurm and then change its permissions so that the
SlurmUser can write to it.

There is also a wckey (workoad characterization key) available for
accounting
Quoting Michael Gutteridge michael.gutteri...@gmail.com:
We use accounts for that purpose:
http://slurm.schedmd.com/accounting.html
Scroll down to the section on database configuration and read up on
sacctmgr
Greetings,
Thanks to some very quick and helpful answers by the members of this
list, I have concluded that the wckey option is my best choice for
implementing a ProjectName accounting field.
Thanks everyone, for your timely and accurate information!

On Wed,
Have you looked into the srun option ―multi-prog ?
Within the srun manpage search out MULTIPLE PROGRAM CONFIGURATION.
Or perhaps requesting specific node lists as well as using ―multi-prog
Srun -w, --nodelist=host1,host2,...
Hi, guys!
Does anybody have any hint? Thanks!
