Just to point out to use zfs send your NAS does not need to support zfs.
ZFS send just outputs a stream of data to stdout. This can be directed to a
file on an NFS mount for example. And then ZFS recv on another host when
the time comes to restore.

If the crash appears different every time check for hardware issues ?
Any memory errors or such logged in the OOB management logs, or see if
anything is reported in "fmdump -ev" ?
Worth checking before digging into the dumps.

You should be able to do this with traits and packages.
Assign traits to compute nodes based on customer, and assign packages with
those traits to each customers account. Provisions using a package with a
trait will only provision on a compute node with a matching trait.
