I think this is the one you are looking for, although its not exactly the
glider pilots poem. It was written by a British RAF pilot

Two years ago I won Nostalgia (actually RES) at Visalia with an original 19
year old Viking Mk. I. All wood, Monocote covered. Got medium launches, did
great thermalling, pretty good landings (read lucky). I was using spoiler

A landing scag is imperative for safety. In competition we seem to be
landing downwind alot especially at the nats or bigger contest where the
winches arent moved during the course of the contest. For those not attending
the larger events , the landing areas are crowded and a pilot is sometime

Thanks to Mark for the musings on RES. It's great to hear some logic
applied to the subject. I fly some contests with the guys up in Eastern
Canada. They prohibit skeggs. I had asked why and they said something
about safety. Many years ago the USA people made much ado about skeggs
