A bunch of the Cincinnati guys will be slopin' at Red Rock after the
races at Stead, Friday and Saturday. Come on out if anyone is in the
neighborhood.

I avoid UPS because they gouge at the border. I use the Canada/US postal

We should also consider the positive effects
that a team selection has on the local area. It serves to raise the interest in
the local soaring community in raising their skills to the national level, and
it serves as a recruitment vehicle to the hobby. The latter effect is maybe not

It has been called to my attention that the referenced article does not
address incidence. I have added a paragraph to address that issue and hope
that it makes the article more informative.
Hope this helps.

Believe me, I tried and so did Adam Till who shipped it. FedEx says the
actually don't insure items. I filled out the claim for a model plane.
I hope Adam chimes in so you can get his take on it and what they told him.
You've been lucky.

Well, as I said pack THEM PROPERLY, and you will minimize the chance of
damage, there is no luck involved with settling claims, it may help to
have an account with the shipper, but this is conjecture. Wrapping in
cardboard is not going to do it, if you want cheap freight rates, and

The only caveate to this is that the Soaring NATS are very close to this date -
generally the last week of July or the first week of August. Also since this

I don't know much about the American psyche, but it's pretty normal to want
the lowest price possible, we're the same way up here in Canada. We
shouldn't be expected to have to encase our planes in stainless steel boxes
to eliminate shipping damage. That's an obvious overstatement, but my
OK, a while back someone posted information on some servo mounts that work
well in molded wings. Able to glue in the mount, then just bold in the

can't seem to find it.

I feel for you Pat. Fortunately the Extreme you just sent me got here just
fine!
As a shipper of quite a few models a year I have used all the shipping
services and have had problems with each of them at one time or another. The
bummer is that it was usually my fault for not packing the planes so

Just shipped a 2 meter via UPS and it seems to have survived well. I've
