Re: SP2???

2015-09-29 Thread Jens Lindgren
I would love to see some 3rd-party rendering issues fixed. Softimage does
some bad stuff to UVs and Vertex Colors, etc. when exporting subdivided
meshes. For the people at Autodesk, I'm talking about SOFT-9244 and SOFT-
9630.

I also found another bug reported in Arnold that I don't know if it's fixed
already or not: SOFT-6372 Ability to query UVs at a particular time.

I'm wondering if there is a link I can use to directly download the
Entertainment suite, without relying on this software middleman app?

Missed that.

The normal installer with that naming convention but without “_webinstall”
appended should be about 13-15 Mb in size.

Try using Chrome.

A link to where you are getting the file might be helpful as well

Hi list,

does anybody have experience with custom display host under linux ? I spent
about week being unable to make opengl view there ( well, actually i can
not make anything, even simple drawing in x11 win ). The problem with x11
native x wins is i dont see a way to pass my events processing callback,
stuff with xt\motif etc is too complex to even understand the basics ( all
tutorials around web i found do not help at all for the cdf case ) . I was
tried to to something with qt, but all i got is instant segfault once the
debbugger steps into the creation of qt widget. ( ldd shows there is no
problems with libs )
I am on centos 6 but i doubt there are any principial difference for
distros . Native way would be the best option, but the qt way is good too.
Thanks for any help

Yes already saw that a couple of times...
Sadly I think it's a renderer specific problem of the strand orientation.
Just to check, switch to mental Ray and you will see something different.
Giving a small rotation on a second axis should fix the problems.

Never mind on the link. You’re using the edu portal it would seem. It’s where
our robotics students use to get their Autodesk software. Been a while since I
had to traverse that portal but unless you are logged into it would be
difficult to test. It seems like I recall that installer runs from within your
browser maybe? But the file you listed was an .exe. I’d give Autodesk edu a
call. Assuming you can still find a number. If you’re a qualified student
you’re eligible for a 3 year license I think.

...try downloading it from a Linux machine or use a more obscure browser
under Windows. When the site thinks that you won't be able to use the
downloader (aka you don't use Windows) then it offers you an http direct
download.

Cheers!

Hey Brad, there is an option to do a direct browser download vs the manager
route. I had issues with the installer app as well. Direct was fine.

Cheers man!

Downloading Entertainment Creation Suite

2015-09-29 Thread Bradley Gabe
Hiya folks! Long time no see.

I'm attempting to download and install the creation suite from the Autodesk
website from the education center. It downloads the 330KB insaller app
without a problem, however when I try to run that app, nothing at all
happens.

Has anyone else hit the same hurdle and figured out where the block is?

Re: Downloading Entertainment Creation Suite

2015-09-29 Thread Bradley Gabe
Yuppers.
The problem seems to be with their installer
app: Autodesk_ECSU_2016_English_Japanese_Win_64bit_wi_en-us_Setup_webinstall.exe
I've tried running as Admin from different locations. Simply stated,
nothing happens upong attempting to run this puppy.

Adam, any hints on how to find that route? Keep in mind I'm not going
through a standard ADSK account, but rather an educational account.

Admittedly i didnt expect there would be a current one published. We had issues
in the past regarding the schools accounts for our robotics students and we did
call them to resolve it but thats been several years ago.

Have you tried using the virtual agent to download?

A call... hahahaha!
I've been all over the site and there's not a phone number to be found.
There *is* a handy page for getting online chat help, but their "agent is not
available" for the greater part of this afternoon so far.

Yeah, I was referring to subscription. I haven't tried the education portal

Align Strand segments

2015-09-29 Thread Olivier Jeannel
Hi all,

I'm using Create Strands and BendStrands to make some kind of spiral ribon.
As you might see in the attached pic, I'm getting some artifacts at render
time. The particle shape is set to Box, ConstrainStrandLength,
AlignStrandSegments are plugged, but don't do much to correct this.

Any idea ?

split-flap wall

2015-09-29 Thread Vincent Langer
Hi there,

I have to create a split-flap airport wall.
So the oldschool info textboard with the rotating letters.

Did anybody create something similar with ice?

I am a bit clueless but maybe it would be a good project to step into
houdini.

All information are very welcome :)

Cheers,
Vincent
