[speedtouch] FC2 & silver modem
Hi everybody, I'm a newcomer to this list and to both Linux and usb modems, although I have been an unix user since many years on an intranet network. I'd like to get my silver speedtouch 330 modem work on Fedora Core 2. In the mailing list archive I see two solutions, one by Frederic Ruaudel and the other by Aad Rijnberg. My inexperience doesn't allow me to tell the difference. Moreover, as my subscription is very recent, I can't have access to the Duncan's patches indicated by Aad Rijnberg; in the archive they result protected. My ISP uses PPPoA and PPPoverATM. I'd appreciate your advice about how to proceed. Thanks, Maurizio Rosetti Liste de diffusion modem ALCATEL SpeedTouch USB Pour se désinscrire : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[speedtouch] Re: Speedbundle doesn't "just all work"
Hi all, Speedbundle is little outdated. But if you "refresh" it, then it works like a charm :) As for my experience with speedbundle and MDK 10.0 you have two choices. 1. Change the kernel to 2.4 series and get the speedtouch module from CVS (put it in kernel_module directory) 2. Stay with 2.6 kernel and edit speedbundles makefile so that kernel module won't compile Either way you'll need a recent modem_run. Put it in firmware_loader directory. Hope that helps. [speedtouch] Speedbundle doesn't "just all work"
Having read about the speedbundle kernel drivers in the archive, I decided to try that as an alternative (see my other post for problems with user-space drivers), but it won't compile. There is no Rules.make file in my src/linux-2.6.3-7mdk directory. Where do I get one? I have tried recompiling (but not installing) the kernel and modules, in the hope that might create it, but it hasn't. There are no instructions in the error message. [speedtouch] pusb_claim_interface 1 failed with 330 modem
Dear all, I'm having trouble connecting to Wanadoo Broadband in the UK using a silver SpeedTouch 330 under Linux Mandrake 10.0. It works well under Windows, so I know the VPI and VCI settings are correct, although I'm not sure about the -e value for pppoa3. Windows has a value of 3 in registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Alcatel\SpeedtouchUSB\PhoneBook\0001\DataAltSetting, but I'm not sure whether that's the same thing. (Anyway, it makes no difference whether I use 1 or 3, so I'm probably not getting that far anyway.) /var/log/messages reports: Jun 1 16:14:10 localhost pppoa3[3080]: pusb_claim_interface 1 failed and Speedtouch Doctor claims no OHCI or UHCI support, though lsmod shows all modules as loaded. I have tried removing the speedtch and atm modules, and removing the -k from the script, in case they are conflicting, but they just get reloaded when I run speedtouch.sh, so I presume they're needed. I can only think this is a conflict between the kernel and user-space drivers, or on the USB, but I don't know what else to do. Has anyone any ideas, please? Full(ish) details below. K.J. Petrie. You are mixing PPPoE and PPPoA mode. Which one should you be using? When using PPPoA: - in your adsl file, remove the -b option - start the connection with pppd call adsl updetach When using PPPoE: - in your adsl file, replace pty line with pty "pppoe -s -I tap0" - run pppoa3 -vpi 0 -vci 35 -b. This will create the tap0 interface. - check that your provider is running PPPoE with : pppoe -A -I tap0 - start the connection with pppd call adsl updetach Benoit PAPILLAULT Liste de diffusion modem ALCATEL SpeedTouch USB Pour se désinscrire : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
