I runned the command as Gilles suggested ( grep CONFIG_ATM_BR2684

and this is what i got:
CONFIG_ATM_BR2684=m

What does it means?
What do you suggest me to do now?
I also considered the problem might me that i have an AMD64

I had a speedtouch working with ubuntu edgy (and in Portugal too) until
recently, when I got a Sagem 1200 router off ebay. The speedtouch works fine,
even though the sagem seems to allow faster throughput. What I did was
basically what you have on the howtos you linked, you might want to try
