This is from
Duncan,
Are you aware of the issue on Fedora 45 with a 2.6.17 kernel?

Add
'options speedtch dl_512_first=1'

rpmbuild -bb, install the created rpm et voila ... firmware extracted/split,
installed and links created for version 1, 2, 3, 4 modems in /lib/firmware. A
little PPP config and you're up and running.

Just wanted to say a quick thank-you to Duncan and David for the kernel
firmware loading. Good work guys! How cool is it for the modem to work
with a stock FC3 kernel, without modem_run, or compiling userspace
plugins, etc. etc. VERY!!! ;-)

Hi,
From speedtouch-1.3.1, modem_run locks a semaphore when it's run.
So, if the first run fails, you won't be able to easily run modem_run
again.
Duncan posted a tip to remove the semaphore: get
Prot=00 Driver=(none)
E: Ad=05(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 8 Ivl=0ms
E: Ad=85(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 8 Ivl=0ms
Is anyone using 1.3.1 successfully on Fedora Core 2 with kernel
2.6.8-1.521smp and a Rev4 330 ?

Hi All,
In my experience most kernel hangs with the alcatel module come from:
(1) Trying to use the alcatel kernel module with an SMP or preemptable

(2) Bugs in the USB subsystem (this occurs for several kernel versions;
it also depends
