Hi!
I had a speedtouch working with ubuntu edgy (and in Portugal too) until
recently, when I got a Sagem 1200 router off ebay. The speedtouch works fine,
even though the sagem seems to allow faster throughput. What I did was
basically what you have on the howtos you linked, you might want to try
executing the instructions in the script by hand first just to check if it
might be a timing problem.

I runned the command as Gilles suggested (   grep CONFIG_ATM_BR2684
/boot/config* )
and this is what i got:

CONFIG_ATM_BR2684=m
# CONFIG_ATMBR2684_IPFILTER is not set

What does it means?
What do you suggest me to do now?

I also considered the problem might me that i have an AMD64 processor and
not an intel but i installed the ubuntu 6.10 for intel anyway. But all the

interfering.. right?

Installing a modem with LAN type of plug would be much easier than a USB

is the output of running this command:

grep CONFIG_ATM_BR2684 /boot/config*

anyway you can understand it, because no matter the portuguese crap the
commands are there and i followed the order top down.
 Uff, i just wish i could follow some clear recipy that could make it work
at once!
