Fred,
I have installed your files. Yet check_adsl.sh gives the message :
Plugin pppoatm.so loaded.
PPPoATM plugin_init
PPPoATM setdevname - remove unwanted options
PPPoATM setdevname_pppoatm - SUCCESS:8.35
connect(8.35): Resource temporarily unavailable
8.35 is the right vpi.vci here, in

This means that the firmware has not been loaded into
the modem.
Ciao,
Duncan.

Yes, you should preferably use the command 'service adsl start'

is a bug of the modem or if it is a bug/feature of USB). (I have a green

It doesn't happen since I installed my new FC2 so maybe the problem have

My speedtouch package should have installed one in the directory
/usr/share/speedtouch/ called firmware.bin but it is the one for my
green manta modem so maybe you need effectively another one. To make all
works, rename it firmware.bin and move it in place of mine.

What I would like to have, was a soft USB initializer (a software that
stop and start an usb device) but I've never been able to find one under
linux.
/etc/init.d/hotplug restart
might help.
Duncan.

I tried to substitute (rather blindly) firmware.bin with ZZZLP2.eni

doesn't work and check_adsl.sh writes the same message.

Does you ISP have troubles ? Usually such timeouts are due to the ISP's
other end of line modem not responding, not troubles of your modem...
Did you try with Windows just a few minutes after or before ?

I've tried to connect to the internet in Windows just after that happened and it
worked perfectly.
Do you know what it's happening or does anybody knows?
Thanks
